Taking Witch Doctor's suggestion, I found a company which can mix PPG paint with Deltron - in 16 oz. spray cans. They needed a PPG paint code, so I called PPG. They did not have current codes for Suzuki, but did have paint codes for Honda and Harley.
I have a '96 model that is factory color Candy Academy Maroon (factory code 22U). PPG has codes for a DARK WINE BERRY and a CANDY RED which resemble the Candy Maroon on the Savage.
Question - does anyone know which color (Berry or Rudy) will more closely resemble the factory maroon color. I want stay close to factory as I think it will help resale down the road.
I read in a previous posting that Witch Doctor raises pecans. We raise 65 acres of pecans here in Texas, along with cattle, hay, peanuts, and peaches. Keeping all the farm equipment maintained (3 tractors, hay baler, mower, swather, pecan harvesting equipment, peanut and grain combines, etc. is very time consuming. I really appreciate the Savage for its minimum maintenance. Time does not allow to keep Savage or any piece of equipment very clean. I had what I thought was a fuel problem - cutting out then dying. Thought it probably was stopped up fuel filter. Took off the gas tank and found that a mouse had decided to build it's nest between the frame and tank - on top of the wires. The problem was that it ate the insulation off every wire and I had one wire that was attached by only a single strand. After some soldering and lots of electrical tape it now runs great. If there is a moral to this story if could be if all else fails, check for mice.
KTRSD and KIBTBD (keep it between the BAR ditches)
